A dear, local friend and I bring each other a bottle of whiskey on visits. He brought me Tin Cup recently. It came in handy tonight, having just learned of a prep school friend passing away. Found a pic of a few of us in ‘74, and poured myself a wee bit to toast the one and only Bun Head.

One of my Ring Cam security alerts has a setting that has a woman’s voice loudly state “Hi, you are currently being recorded”. I’m thinking of changing it to “Hi, your car warranty has expired, do you have a few minutes?” in order to be more effective deterring people from coming near.

@jimacosta.bsky.social Can anyone in TV news media explain why, besides maybe an obligation under an enterprise license, the digital meeting app being used is shown? It’s not like in the “old days” there was a statement “calling in via Ma Bell”, or now “my Verizon Apple iPhone”, or whatever.

Agree when the note is “short”. But a long footnote, taking up the bottom 1/2 of a page is not fun. Then again, a long note, whether end or foot, is too much in and of itself.

Here’s how capitalism works. My parents built a house in Boca Raton in 1960 on a lot and also bot the adjoining lot. $20k all-on. In 2020 my mom sold all for $750k. The investor turned around and sold the house for $850k. And is finishing a spec house on the other lot w/ a price tag of $2.8 million.

This is a monastery in a region of Ceará state (Brazil), where my grandmother was born.
The monastery is on top of a mountain and produces quality coffee, and they sell their beans there themselves.
The emotional memory is huge, my grandmother loved this place.
