I write fiction and creative nonfiction, but lately I can’t ignore all the corruption in front of me.

And I will say, it was actually really lovely that the skater from Kazakhstan won, I love when. Medals go to a lot of different countries and not just America china japan France or whatever

YES THANK YOU! even the most humble, lovely kid in the world can’t close out the amount of hype some of them get from media and fans and the public. It’s just a JINX!

Also, please don’t make them answer stupid interview Qs the second they fail the thing they’ve been working toward for ten years

Sorry it’s a thing from “One Battle After Another” - this idea that rich white supremacists might have a secret cabal but it’s definitely stupid and cringey and they call it something stupid and cringey like “Christmas adventurers”

Those damn ass Christmas adventures

I had one intention, to find out if you are from Maine. Then you responded to my question with a question, which is markedly more classifiable as “dickish”

I’ve met this person you’re deriding. He’d give you much more grace than the sum total you’ve probably given in your life, SwEaTy.

The first thing you commented on the post (before you knew I existed) is what I am referring to. Whose energy were you matching there?

But even so, I asked you a question in response to a freely offered opinion, you answered a question with a question. Those are two very different “energies”

I think you’d be more successful if you presented facts and not your own personal conclusions and judgments.

Say,
here’s something I think people ought to know,

not,

you’re stupid for not knowing this.

I’ll take that to mean you are NOT from Maine, and that you haven’t met him or gone to his events. It’s arrogant and shortsighted to speak so accusingly about a stranger of whom you have no first-hand knowledge and who has only recently developed a national public profile. Let Maine vet our own.

NO NO NO FUCK PARDONS
February 13, 2026 at 7:09 PM
Do you live in Maine?

What we have is about a million more variables to deal with at any given moment. So many more things are possible now, it’s incomprehensible. Sure, pain doesn’t change, but the world in which you experience it has. Life is more complex now. Sorry that’s not good enough for you, not surprised.

You didn’t have to worry about technology that can perfectly reproduce the sound of your little sister screaming for help in the background of a phone call. You didn’t have an openly confirmed pedophile as a president/former president for ten years. You didn’t even have airport security.

Technology has all but disintegrated privacy, identity, safety, and learning, and, most importantly, it has nearly made extinct the concept of pure childhood. Your abusive boyfriend couldn’t track you via a tiny computer in your pocket that is a virtual necessity for operating in society.

6) I have seen and experienced things you could not imagine, and your hubris in assuming that I’ve never faced life’s harsh realities is evidence enough that you lack the emotional coherence to even be having this conversation at the level I need reciprocated.

I do apologize for using ‘vindictive’

5) younger people are simply worse. What? We’re all just spoiled brats who are inherently less capable and worthy? It’s rich, that you think you’re so much better than the people you RAISED.

You have no idea what I’ve been through in my life. I do not need a lesson from you that life can be hard.

3) own unique struggles? Perhaps it’s fair that we don’t want to deal with yours as well. You got to enjoy many luxuries and conveniences that people before you did not have, there’s no way you would have put up with a chamber pot in the 20th century!

1) you’re gonna tell me no one ever complained about hardship before Gen Y? I promise you, people have always complained, it’s just that now, the internet exists.

2) The next step of human consciousness depends on questioning why things are the way they are. What makes you think we don’t have our—
