I recall her saying "the only way to absolutely guarantee you won't get pregnant or get an STD is to be abstinent, just like the only way not to get in a car crash is not to ever get in a car. Most of us are going to get in a car at some point."

Idk how it happened in an Indiana public school, but my sex ed was pretty frank and comprehensive. Even covered safe sex for non-heteronormative couplings, and had a good talk on consent. This was high school health class, back in 2009 or so.
