I have an unexpected day off today; when I stumbled out of bed at 11 am, my cat was absolutely THRILLED. She made me sit on the couch & is now happily snoring next to me. I had things to do today. Guess they’re not getting done. 😄

In good news, I got my new glasses today! Not only can I see more clearly, but they are cool as hell:

My husband knocked it our of the park this Yule - Kaiju dress from Princess Awesome & long-wished-for Jack o’Lantern purse from La Femme en Noir. The third picture is the painting I bought for Manly Man from artist K.W. Heintz. #Yule

It's the end of the year, and time for my list of favorite reads from 2025! Bear in mind that some of them aren't published yet, as I have access to ARCs (but trust me!) I seem to have read an inordinate amount of parasite-related books this year. Huh. #Booksky #Books

My fannish friends: I have come into possession of a jacket (at a thrift store, for $3) which is not my fandom, but which may be yours. Do you want it? Obviously I can’t get it to you this week, but I could send it next week. Size L (looks unisex). Give me a holler if you want it.

I bought this custom coffee mug from a ceramic artist during the Plague Year. It makes me happy every single time I use it.

Dunno if I have any from college on my computer. Here's a blurry photo from 1984-85 of me dancing to "Lost Horizon" by The Movement. (I still have that jacket, which I thrifted in downtown Nashville.)

Trying to decide between shirts for my boychild. Can y'all help? Here are the two designs - which one is cooler? Are they both lame & my old ass just doesn't see it? I need data.

Apparently, our new tree lights have a Trans Pride setting. It has the dual purpose of supporting our friends AND making steam come out my mother’s husband’s ears. Win-Win.

Jury’s still out on whether it has Lesbian or Bi light schemes for our kids. #Xmas

OMG it's a giant viperfish! (They're like 3 inches long in real life; even giant, it's not exactly threatening.) #HorrorWatch

Happy Ritual Sacrifice with Pie day to all who celebrate! On my way to start the yeast rolls & start prepping the fried okra. Hope you all eat yourselves into a beautiful nap where everything feels right with the universe for at least an hour. #Thanksgiving

I haven't seen this movie before; a rare event for #HorrorWatch viewing! Enjoying it so far. Oh! There's Dennis Quaid. So we're watching two movies with Dennis Quaid in tiny tubes and there's weird evolution? Not a lot, but...:gestures at meme:

Let me tell you about this week's books:
Platform Decay by @marthawells.com (May '26): Murderbot + Three; shenanigans ensue
Wolf Worm by @tkingfisher.com (Mar '26): Gothic botflies & other parasites :shudder:
Of Monsters & Mainframes by @barbaratruelove.bsky.social: If Universal monsters in space.

Decided to rewatch "In the Mouth of Madness" (1994) today. What an '80s soundtrack!

I remembered the changing painting & the old lady, but I didn't remember *Charlton Heston* being in this!

David Warner has the no-nothingest, throwaway role. Sam Neill was great, as per usual. Creepy & fun.

One is an absolute arsehole with absolutely no sexual morals, and the other is a vampire. You figure out which is the hero and which is the villain for yourself. 😅

I bought something I didn’t need (or did I?) He shall keep me company throughout the rest of Spooky Season.

Can't go to the protests today because I have to be a #SaturdayLibrarian. So I'm wearing my new t-shirt (from "Cells Dividing") in solidarity.

Picked up "Hong Kong Widow" by Kristen Loesch. Set in three time periods (1935, 1953, 2015), this is the story of a Chinese medium who survives personal and political tragedy...and a bloodthirsty house, returning many decades later to face her past. Haunted house, vengeful spirits, WWII. #Booksky

Manly & I are celebrating Oktoberfest with Manly Man’s best friend. Not pictured: my Irish Stout cause I’m not really a Marzen kind of gal.

Also: the Oompa band is playing “The Devil Went Down to Georgia”. Quintessentially American celebration. #beer

Sing hallelujah; it is Beer O’Clock. Delicious Porter, #Horrorwatch tonight, and no work tomorrow. :happy sigh:

It’s October, you know what that means: I subject you to at least one of my terrible sketches. Enjoy! #Inktober
