Calling all data people! Pls help! 📈📊

AustRoads released their star ratings for road design last week. But some roads that have a high star rating for design for vehicle occupants have really terrible “fatal and serious injury” stats.

I want to know how often these depart, and where.

Almost 900 fewer people have been injured on Welsh roads since the default speed limit was lowered from 30 to 20mph two years ago

Casualties on 20 to 30mph roads between July and September 2024 were the lowest for the three month-period since records began in 1979

👏 Evidence-led policy
Nearly 900 fewer people injured since 20mph introduction in Wales
Figures show a 25% reduction in the number of injuries on Wales' roads in the past 18 months.

I’m a massive advocate for 30km/hr speed limits… and today was a big day 🥹

I’ve been working for ages to make it easier for councils to implement this life saving speed limit.

And today, the Department of Transport and Planning’s Speed Zoning Policy was updated to allow councils this choice! 💚

Who cycles in Richmond? 🙋🏻‍♀️

The intersection of Swan and Lennox is bustling - full bars, live music, great restaurants!

But it’s a tricky spot to navigate by bike. We’ve proposed some changes that would make it simpler.

For those following Yarra’s bike lane narrowing saga: concept plans for narrowed lanes approved 😭😭 (despite safety audit painting a pretty grim picture!)

Now over to the state government to approve… (after another $200k is spent on detailed designs for less safe lanes 🙃)
Richmond bike lanes to shrink after controversial parking plan approved
Five years after removing car parks to install protected bike lanes, Yarra council has voted to downgrade the lanes and reintroduce parking.

The Elizabeth St bike lanes are back on the Yarra Council agenda, and there's a lot of talk about potential liability 👀👀

Melbourne is the 4th most liveable city in the world but by allocating so much public space to cars, the city can feel far from liveable.

Where is the leadership from council to close these streets to cars? When will the Future Streets Framework be implemented?

📍Lt Lonsdale St, Melbourne

New priority crossing for folks on foot and bike on the Capital City Trail! 🙌

I championed this crossing last term (including after lobbying from grade 5s!), and am proud to see it delivered (the last item of our 2020 council’s last budget). 💚
