Haven’t been so affected by the death of an artist in a long time like David Lynch. Truly one of the great, unique minds in film and television. The world is a less interesting place without him.

The Substance lived up to the hype. As long as you can accept that it’s a broad gory cartoon with satire as subtle as a sledgehammer to the nads, it is easily the most fun film I’ve seen this year.

I finally quit Twitter for good. I’ve been secretly checking in to doomscroll. But after seeing a middle-aged MP face a ton of homophobic abuse from bot and troll accounts for the hideous crime of… dating a 30 year old (Shock! Horror!), I just can’t be part of Musk’s dystopian hellscape anymore.

I want to be cynical but honestly, the Gavin and Stacey finale was pretty fantastic. Couldn’t have asked for much more.

Watching Bridget Jones’s Diary for the first time in about 15 years. I can remember almost every gag and character off by heart, yet I could not have told you what the actual plot is or, for example, how and why Bridget ends up sliding down a firepole and flashing her arse on television.

The new Photos app on iPhone is such an unbelievably shit update. I refuse to believe anyone tested that and thought it was an improvement.

All I’ve been watching for the last few weeks is Mad Men. Do you reckon people would find it off if I started turning up to gigs chain smoking, wearing a three piece suit and exclusively drinking scotch? I’m thinking a change in style could do me good.

What’s your definitive “if it’s on at 11pm on terrestrial TV and I have nothing else to do I’ll always watch it” film? Shaun of the Dead is the gold standard, but I’ll throw in My Cousin Vinny.
