Experimented with hand piping with royal icing this year. We used King Arthur’s sugar cookie mix and royal icing mix, and it turned out much better than the time we tried to make royal icing ourselves. It tasted good too! Would recommend!

Sitting here making blueberry muffins for a finals snack break event tomorrow for students and suddenly wishing I had a weekend to recover from my weekend. It was a good one with a good trash clean up, lovely birthday wishes from friends, and our miniature horses event today at work, but I am tired.

I’ve been under the weather all day with a head cold, and I missed out on plans I was looking forward to. But at least Biro has kept me company all day, and Jeff and I are having a two person listening party to Earthencloak’s new album.

It’s pumpkin roll time! Our roll cracked a bit this year, but we tried Tillamook cream cheese for the filling this year, and it made the filling so good!

I’ve been a little disappointed because though Biro is cuddly in his way, he hasn’t really liked to sit on my lap…until I recently discovered he really likes to sit on me when I sit crisscross applesauce. Who needs functioning knees anyway!

I did my yearly mammogram this morning, so rewarding myself with a jelly filled donut from Guglhupf. So good. I didn’t pause eating long enough to get a shot of the filling inside.

I got to go on a tour of Susan B. Anthony’s house during a brief trip to Rochester for a conference. It was really moving to see where some of the meetings of the National American Woman Suffrage Association happened.

It was a long day on so many levels that I almost skipped this reading at Meredith College, but I’m so glad I didn’t. It was nourishing in a way I needed!

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a tired librarian in the second week of the fall semester must be in want of a beer and a good book. Am I doing it right? Regardless, I’m thrilled for the new book by @devoney.bsky.social and enjoying my koozie!

I recently read a manga and a Korean novel that both mentioned fruit sandwiches, which made me curious to try it. Behold our effort to make it!. Not quite as pretty and tidy as the photos online but not bad. It’s not super sweet, but it’s a lot of cream. I really like the Japanese milk bread!

I was supposed to volunteer at the League of Women Voter’s Good Trouble Lives On voting rights rally in Chapel Hill, but we got rained out. I was feeling a little bummed, but then the universe provided me with this amazing queso boat at a Mexican restaurant I love!
