Ohio book friends!! In case you haven’t heard, the library budget in Ohio is in danger of being cut, but there’s still time to contact your reps and let them know what libraries meant to you! #booksky
If you’re in Ohio, please contact your representatives (ohiohouse.gov) and let them know you don’t want them to cut the library budget. I know the Columbus Metropolitan Library has a beloved social media presence, so here’s the letter they sent out today discussing what’s going on:

#Ohio folks, please call your state representative and tell them to restore the Public Library Fund. Without it, rural libraries are pretty much screwed, and urban libraries are pretty screwed, too.

The main source of state funding for Ohio’s public libraries was eliminated in the House draft of the state operating budget for the next two years. Analysis by the Ohio Library Council shows state funding would drop by more than $100 million compared to the governor’s proposal.

A lot of people don't know this, but Ohio has a truly incredible system of libraries, one of the best in the country. Defunding the libraries impoverishes every single human being in the state of Ohio. I urge you all to call your reps and demand that libraries stay funded.
Ohio communities need strong public libraries, but the Ohio House wants to cut library funding and censor what's available for library users.
