Imma be honest, this is bad news for Lynx but great news for us because we are getting a full oss XR operating system instead of AXR that's closed source. Even if it's less feature rich.

Or you are extremely invested in the valve's ecosystem.

Otherwise Quest 3/3S is a no brainer for the majority.

It does have hand tracking but I don't think it's mentioned in the advertising materials so far.

We pray for Meta Phoenix or whatever Pico is cooking. Or some AXR surprise HMD perhaps..

And lightweight*, none of that Varjo/Pimax/Somnium/etc bulky stuff.

I feel like lot's of us are looking for the next thing and this ain't it. Currently it seems like Galaxy XR will serve the enthusiasts a lot better even with it's price and availability issues.

I'm personally looking forward to next year with lightweight premium headsets that are in the horizon.

It's hard to consider it in a world where Pico and Quest headsets exist unless you are a steam head and value being able to run your steam games (especially flat games) locally like the Deck or I want a ultra hackable device that you can do whatever you want to.

I really doubt they can sell this any lower than 800 bucks without major losses. I wish they would do a more premium SKU that addresses all the major trade offs but fundamentally that would require a complete redesign from SoC upwards.

That's my view as well. It's completely make or break on the price. It feels like Quest Pro S or Quest 3+ if you will. It totally looks like a lot of love and thought went into but the specs are pretty mid. Especially not having colored pass through in 2026 when every other standalone headset has it
