Other thoughts:
- Magic and sentient sludge monsters I can understand, but an office that lets me bring my pet to work? Totally immersion breaking.
- I'm so glad the "Telltale" formula can manage to incorporate some actual game beyond dialogue choices and quick-time events. I'd take a season 2!

What I disliked:
- There's no way to skip dialogue or cut scenes which discourages playing through again with different choices.
- The dispatches are more structured than it seems, I would have liked a random or an endless option.
- Short overall runtime, I felt like there should have been more.

What I liked:
- The actual superhero dispatching is fun! Choosing the right hero for the job and building up your team's abilities is satisfying.
- Voice performances are strong across the board and it's fun to guess the actors.
- An original world with no ties to existing IP.

Up in the sky, it's a #GameReview of Dispatch:
This super-powered strategy game tells a decent story with a good cast of characters with a few branching paths along the way. I would have preferred a little more substance, but it's short, sweet, and an easy recommendation for anybody.

Other thoughts:

- It's fascinating to see the these developers put out such a unique game almost 30 years after Moon. They've still got it!
- Maybe a personal problem, but I never grew attached to any characters in this game.
- Is there an explanation for the MC's dog-face or did I just miss it?

What I disliked:

- The mechanics and goals are not well explained, especially the talking system in battle. Experimentation is particularly grueling.
- Movement and text speed are very slow, map exploration is monotonous.
- The isometric view makes the bullet-dodging combat inconsistent.

What I liked:

- The PS1-era sprites are beautiful and character designs have fantastic range.
- Everything is willing to change at a moment's notice, shifting gameplay, controller input, artstyle, and more.
- The metanarrative is well done and the way it plays into the ending is very satisfying.

#GameReview of Stray Children:

This charming RPG combines nostalgia with clever writing to deliver an amusing adventure, but it falls short of its spiritual predecessor, Moon, and its modern inspiration, Undertale. It finishes strong, and there are high points, but the journey is pretty tedious.

Pokey and Porky are both here so you don’t have to choose one localized name over the other.

Stray Children isn’t really clicking with me, what if… oh hey Ness, Lucas, and Seto Kaiba are here!

Shout out to Forbidden Planet in Dublin for being the only comic book store to feature Johnny the Homicidal Manic right up there with Batman.

Recently survived a #MovieReview for Halloween (1978):

This slasher has a lot of really cool ideas that still hold up all these years later. The music is great and it's chilling to stalk people from the perspective of a killer.
Always remember to double-tap if you think you fought off an attacker!

How does she get so flat?

Other thoughts (cont.):

- I hope the success of Hades 1+2 can give Supergiant the funding to be more experimental. I'd play a third installment, but I'd prefer something more original, like Pyre.
- Courting Strife is so appropriate, why do they even give you boring mope or angry slacker options?
October 30, 2025 at 3:14 PM
Other thoughts:

- The game is too... balanced? Part of what I like about roguelikes (FTL, Isaac, Spire) is being stuck with "bad" options and when everything's so viable, it's a different vibe.
- Constant progression limits my emotional investment into any particular run, you're stronger tomorrow.
October 30, 2025 at 3:14 PM
What I disliked:

- Grinding different resources for upgrades felt bloated, like a roadblock keeping me from the action.
- The grind to the true ending is incredibly repetitive, I would have liked for it to have ended 20 hours sooner. Maybe a better way to track progress could have helped?
October 30, 2025 at 3:14 PM
What I liked:

- Aesthetics are second to none! Incredible character designs, voicework, and music.
- Weapons are varied and there's an exciting combat loop, it's addicting to build up run after run.
- There are twice as many route options as the first game!... So yeah, two now.

By my authority, a #GameReview of Hades 2:

This beautiful action game uses fast, precise combat to deliver a banquet of gorgeous artwork and sound design. It doesn't subvert the formula from the first game, but it still feels good to use the wide selection of toys to kill thousands of monsters.

#MovieReview for Frankenstein (2025):

The classic tale comes alive again with amazing performances, magical sets, and fantastic costumes. I loved the symbolism of the color choices and can't wait to rewatch and reexplore this gothic, gloomy world.
Monster-smoochers rejoice, Del Toro does it again!

#MovieReview for Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc (2025):

A fantastic anime adaptation with wild animation, and absolutely crazy over-the-top action. I loved when art styles changed during big set piece fights!
It's big, stupid, loud, and colorful and I wouldn't want it any other way.
