It does a real diservice to rules light games as well. As an adult I've come to appreciate rules light games in their own right. Not as some kind of "training wheels" before I let new players lose on the 'real' games.

Jason's game reveals itself when played because they're intricately designed.

My games reveal themselves when played because I'm pretty bad at explaining myself.

By the way, if you already got it on Itch and want the book, send me a DM and I'll hook you up with a discount so you don't pay double!

It has come to my attention that the table of contents is off (stupid formatting changes) but I swear, it will be fixed!

If you're interested there's a new alternate version of Microscope in the works that's more focused and character-centered. It's a free download for anyone to try.

A lot of the improvements in scenes etc can be used to upgrade original Microscope too.

Forgot to mention, the game is GM-less and prep-less - you just gather a couple of friends and then you sit down and play for a couple of hours!

Also it features 9 different moods, like Blood or Romance or Tragedy or Comedy, and these shape each session depending on which two are in play.

Oh, and did I mention it features four oracles, for a total of 192 unique entries to base your sessions off of, and The Owe List, which I ruthlessly stole (with permission) from @lumpley.bsky.social's In a Wicked Age.

That's like, so much game fellas.

You should totally play this if you're a bit of a theater kid, and really dig the "play" part of RPG, but it still has a lot of design goodness. By the time you've played a full campaign, you will love to hate the vagaries of the dreaded 2d6!

And not paying attention to that metric, but instead hyperfocusing on telling the "right" kinds of "decolonised" stories, is *such* a bougie tell.
