Really disappointed that the public service station here in Denmark apparently boasts 100 AI projects ongoing.

It's paid through taxes, so we can't opt out!

The Lands Remaining: Struggles

Struggles are on my mind because the newest episode of The Lands Remaining Podcast is all about them, and we're currently holding a writing contest focused on them. So, a quick thread about what is almost certainly going to be the most controversial part of this game!

Yeah I say we pick March 2003
Maybe instead of identifying specific ICE agents who do particularly heinous things, we could just penalize everyone who was on payroll at the agency starting by a certain date.

My scenario Zâr, nominated for Best Scenario (yes I'm bragging), with a stack of joyeous feedback sheets, also had one (1) guy who called it his worst Fastaval experience in 20 years.

You will NOT be able to please everyone.
I work daily knowing this person is out there and is going to be a source of annoyance to me personally, and that my game will never make them happy unless I add d20s or initiative or some shit to it, and so I need to ignore them and keep making my game so that it’s the best expression of my vision.

It does a real diservice to rules light games as well. As an adult I've come to appreciate rules light games in their own right. Not as some kind of "training wheels" before I let new players lose on the 'real' games.

Ayup, I'm Paul. Still consider myself pretty new to all this (I'm old, and I started late) but I love what I've learned to do. Feels a bit like sorcery :)

Bodé amazed at cartooning, sci-fantasy, erotica, and whimsy. He died at 33 yet left behind an expansive body of delicious, challenging, raw work. He had the rare quality of being an unfiltered, naked live wire of ideas and exploratory creation coupled with a working cartoonist's grounding.
Just finished up “The Complete Deadbone Erotica Omnibus” by Vaughn Bodē earlier on, and wanted to share my favorite illustrations from the collection to showcase some of the man’s colorful work ^w^🖼️🎨

Finally, Magic Dungeons is finished.

A radical yet familiar approach to dungeondelving. Made to be approachable as possible, a way to reuse game pieces, and with as much support for online play as we could get done.
Love dungeoncrawling? Have a lot of Magic the gathering or tarot cards that you cannot find a good use for them?Love Pallas Cats? Wish there were deckbuilding roguelike mechanics in more roleplaying games?

Look no further, Magic Dungeons is here for you!

This looks like a lot of fun.

As a forever GM, I'm always on the lookout for GMless pickup games. I much prefer the role of facilitator to GM. It makes me feel like I'm organizing little parties for my friends rather than "running a game."

Turns out the POD version on DriveThru was just a day away from being a real thing! You can get it here. It's a simple product, but it's a damn book in your filthy hands!

If you're interested there's a new alternate version of Microscope in the works that's more focused and character-centered. It's a free download for anyone to try.

A lot of the improvements in scenes etc can be used to upgrade original Microscope too.

I wonder why these games never (rarely?) go with combat being an actual fail-state.

Like, *fight begins* then everyone rolls a 1d4. On 1-2 you died, on a 3-4 you are so disabled that when you leave the Dungeon you live the rest of your life as a beggar. GAME OVER
A dissonance I keep getting baffled with in the OSR-leaning adventuconquistadores games (since the others glorify and exalt in it) is how much combat, for something not rewarding, disincentivesed part of the gamescape, takes all the oxygen away the moment it is engaged with.

And not paying attention to that metric, but instead hyperfocusing on telling the "right" kinds of "decolonised" stories, is *such* a bougie tell.

i admit to being slightly annoyed that "chatbot psychosis" is becoming accepted terminology for something that isn't really psychosis in the sense that we've used it to describe an organic medical condition prior to this. i feel like we need different terms for cult/groupthink/chatgpt/etc delusions
