I keep bringing weird little games to the table. Yesterday, after a session of Desperation Engine, I asked my players if they'd prefer something more conventional, like a dungeon crawl.
"I prefer this," they said.
Me too, but I bet I'll keep feeling like I ought to be offering dungeon crawls.

Speaking from personal experience, a whole lot of white folks my age go through most of their lives convinced that any reasonably sensitive observer ought to be able to tell they're not racist just by looking at them.
You're going to have to forgive me- there are a lot of racist white dudes on this site and its not easy to tell which are "sarcastic" or "joking" about being racist at any given point.

I'm at a community activist meeting. A bunch of college students show up. They started introductions, and did what you'd expect - name, pronouns, org affiliation. The townies ... they don't know how to do this, apparently. We're getting everyone's life stories.

There's also a big helping of anti-queer sentiment built into this outlook, as well.
Ask these plonks to explain themselves, and they'll spin some nonsense about how men and women can't get past the sexual tension, a premise that 100% erases queer folks from the conversation.

One of the reasons I so greatly dislike the “can men and women be friends?” nonsense (yes, full stop, shut up) is that it casts suspicion on people with opposite-sex friends instead of where it more often belongs: on people with no opposite-sex friends.
Anyway, yeah. The overwhelming impression one gets from so many of these emails is that a lot of them are guys who have never had a real, serious friendship with a woman in their lives.
Which sucks for them, but also sucks for every woman who has to deal with them, ever.

I got to run Gra Howitt's This One Time at Bard Camp this past weekend. It was great fun.
This is the 2nd time I've run this game. Both times we got slightly less than 1/2 way thru in a 3 hr session - this is my only critique of this game; it runs long.

I got to run Gra Howitt's This One Time at Bard Camp this past weekend. It was great fun.
This is the 2nd time I've run this game. Both times we got slightly less than 1/2 way thru in a 3 hr session - this is my only critique of this game; it runs long.

I have to use Chrome on my work computer.
It pains me how much better the Bitwarden browser extension is for Chrome compared to Firefox. It's very sad.
I'm still not using Chrome if I don't have to, tho.

I can never be a min-max-er, not because I think it's wrong (it's not - be the best you that you can be, honestly), but because the way that I create characters is "vibes based".
