Narrator: Electing Harris instead of Trump would, in fact, have made things better.
This map is from December 2024. During the Biden Administration. These laws were proliferating like kudzu for the past 10 years, esp. since 2015. Electing a transphobic D candidate will not make anything better.

That was the least suspenseful Dragula finale ever, although I guess I was surprised at how badly Jay Kay underperformed, and it was absolutely heartbreaking watching Abhora implode like that.

Evah was my favorite from the beginning; she very much deserved this win.

... alright, can anyone explain to me why they're called "data centers"?

I've been in proper data centers - they weren't packed w/ GPUs; they were full of LTO-9 autoloaders.

Surely the correct term is "processing centers." What gives?

In the 90s, my college had a planetarium, and I took a course & learned how to operate the device, compose a lesson, and I put together shows about parallax and constellations changing over time. (Set to instrumental songs by the Cure)

We rescued this kitten off the mean streets of Brazil, Indiana.

Our oldest, who made the final decision about the rescue, named him Gollum.

We decide that's a crap name. We call him Precious.

I went to high school in rural Nebraska. There's a whole long list of country songs I absolutely can't stand.

Achy Breaky Heart, probably, is at the top. But there are so, so many. If you're not now familiar w/ the horrors of 90s country music, don't go looking.

Cynthia Doll is the worst thing about Dragula and makes every episode she's in just painful to watch. Absolutely the worst.

This guy is a doctor, right? Or a medical guy of some kind. That's a lab coat and a stethoscope hanging around his neck, yeah?

That's weird.

This is a crap essay, but there was a grading rubric, and it should have been applied. I don't see how this gets anything less than 10 points, and I can see a case for giving it 25 points.

Write better rubrics.

I couldn't find my TTRPG books. I hadn't seen them in months. I looked all over. I'd written them off as lost.

Yesterday, my partner reminded me that a couple of months ago, we'd moved a particular bookshelf from one room to another. Apparently, that's all it takes for me to forget a thing exists.

I can't speak for what was said at the protests, but seeing people react to an anodyne statement like "sacred spaces should not be used to promote activities in violation of international law" as if it were a vicious slur is clarifying.
Zohran Mamdani chastised a Manhattan synagogue that hosted an event promoting migration to Israel and settlements in occupied territories. His stance further tested his strained relationship with pro-Israel Jews in New York.

Literally nothing is a holiday must. Cook and eat whatever you like.

For two or three years, my family cooked large salmon fillets as the main dish for Thanksgiving. They're reasonably priced, easily scalable, quick and easy, and they're a crowd pleaser.

No you didn't, some of us never fucked with the Beatles. So many people tried to get me into the Beatles and, while they have some songs I like/appreciate, I have never in my life said, "Hmm, I want to listen to the Beatles."
As someone who is this guy's age I can tell you 100% that if you were into Pixies, Nirvana, 120 Minutes stuff, etc. but didn't like the Beatles you had to have worked hard to contort yourself into that special little box. Your enemy, if you absolutely needed one, was hair metal. GTFO here with this.

People like different stuff; there are 100 different ways to be an insufferable music snob.

One of them is telling people what their tastes ought to be.

I'm in a slump.

Not even a month ago - maybe just a couple weeks ago - I had boundless energy and ambition. I could plan things and execute my plans. I made reasonably good use of my time, managed my priorities, and got things done.

Now I just want to lie on the couch. I hope this passes soon.
