ultimately the profit motive and reduction in skill works in tandem either by design or by accident. A Peter Thiel I imagine absolutely thinks in those terms. Some random CEO from company x that needs art for whatever advert just doesn't want to pay.

This isn't defeatist because the fight has already been won. It was won when animation companies moved from hand painted cells. Maximize profits. Until that system goes the same set of calculations will be made and repeated.
