It is inevitable because we do not live in an aesthetic world, art and illustration in particular has never been more undervalued. It won't replace illustration. But it is inevitable. You don't have to use it and not using it will not make it any less inevitable because we are in the minority.
Today, once again, I saw an indie studio owner defend GenAI as inevitable. I want to say once again: no, it's not. It's only as inevitable as you want it to be (especially as an owner) Do smaller, be smarter, don't use this shit.
And one other thing: we’re being told that AI is the only way to make games cheaper and faster, to pull us from this precipice of production nightmares the industry has found itself in. That it’s necessary.
We put out roughly 3 motherfucking games a year, not touching the stuff.
