Well... I see there is an underlying assumption that the GOP has America and Americans at large's best interest at heart. I have come to realize that is a false assumption, and that the dismantling of the government as we knew it is part of the point.

I heard a possible explanation: an interim director needs to be picked among those in the FBI which are already senate-confirmed. Kash isn't. But who knows, rules and norms are not worth much these days.

Um, not exactly. Biden has forever said "We are with you as long as it takes", which is ambiguous because "it" is undefined. I agree entirely with retired gen. Ben Hodges on this matter.
