ah ty, very helpful. I'm a bit put off by substance as ive only ever really used 3DCoat before (and just hand painting diffuse). I guess i should give the trial a go

that's good to know, ty :) Do you hand author a bunch of baseline roughness types then adapt them to various models or is there like a library of them people typically use? So far ive been adapting my diffuse and painting in extra info when needed but feels like theres a quicker way lol

played Cronos at launch and loved it :) Went into it not expecting much but was really impressed with how the narrative unfolds and how incredibly fine tuned the combat and resource management is 👌

haha yeah, good comparison 😅 At least in SM the otherworld parts are fairly short lived but in both games they have that kinda copy paste filler vibe that clashes with the more bespoke stuff used elsewhere. Still super enjoyable games

yess they did a great job with the motion controls, its funny because the control scheme is almost identical to Fatal Frame (or Project Zero) on the Wii in how you move the character and influence the flashlight separately. I'm quite fond of that and actually prefer it to traditional ots camera

first time I played it was back on Wii :) I don't have a Wii anymore so stuck with the PS2 version which kinda has its own charm in how its desperately clinging on for life trying to render everything 😆
