Environmental harm is a human rights crisis. From heatwaves affecting people with chronic illnesses to pollution harming children’s health and climate disasters affecting frontline communities… all of them remind us that protecting our planet means protecting people. 👥

🤝 We met with Member States and @coe.int representatives to discuss how to strengthen action on environment and human rights, and how to ensure the Council’s new Strategy on the Environment delivers meaningful change.

Our Campaign will keep collaborating to strengthen & monitor every aspect of the Strategy, including through involvement in a new Steering Committee on the Environment that will look closely at its implementation from next year!

With the first state signatures coming in already, it is our hope – and call – that many more governments, whether @coe.int member States or observer ones, quickly join in supporting a long-overdue text to fight impunity & reinforce environmental protection.
