Supporting others grieving a toxic drug poisoning loss, like me.

Treat everyone with kindness, not because they are nice, but because you are.

We keep hearing claims that the toxic drug crisis is “over,” but the numbers tell a very different story.

From Alberta’s own Substance Use Surveillance data:
Edmonton drug poisoning deaths
• Jan–Aug 2024: 428
• Jan–Aug 2025: 510

That’s an increase, not a decline.

Sound on!
This piercing noise is used in a downtown YEG stairwells to drive homeless people away. It’s part of “sound violence” and hostile architecture, that makes spaces unusable for vulnerable people while fixing nothing and make suffering worse.

A woman as a witch stirring a cauldron labeled with Alberta’s crest, holding a syringe and spoon. Surrounded by jars, she says, “A sprinkle of fear, dash of bile, pinch of spite… divide the people, that’s the plot.” Critique of divisive political tactics.

When the Alberta government claims that deaths from the toxic drug crisis are decreasing or stabilizing, take a look at this graph — it tells a very different story.

Involuntary care won’t fix this.
Compassion, harm reduction, on-demand voluntary treatment options, and real supports will.

unfortunately, the answer is yes

Danielle Smith's 4-year contract for Bruce (Spanky) McAllister to belittle Albertans is $737,000 in salary and $88,000 in pension benefits, for a total of $825,000 paid to do what he did at public forums.
It's a disgrace.

Harm reduction isn’t a replacement for systemic change—it’s frontline care born from necessity. From overdose prevention to safer sex supplies, it saves lives while we fight for justice, housing, and healthcare. Survival is not the finish line; the goal is a world where everyone can thrive.

A delicious lunch starring my “one and only” heirloom pineapple tomato! 🍅 Sweet, mild, and low-acid with a citrusy twist—maybe even a hint of pineapple (or maybe that’s just suggestion at work). Solid 8.5/10. Would definitely plant again! 🌱✨

Prohibition is the Crisis.
For over a century, drug markets have been controlled through ineffective law enforcement. Since the 1908 Opium Act, prohibition has forced trade underground, fueling contamination and organized crime, making everyone less safe.
