too much of my work is "who did this and why is it broken" right now

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

We've created a tool called the "Screen reader support look up tables" designed to help people quickly check how screen readers interpret HTML elements and attributes across multiple combinations of browser and screen reader.

I feel like they'll hand off this instance or whatever they call it to some shadow-ey tech or crypto company at some point so they can focus on the protocol more.

The opt in nags drive me crazy. Like hey, sometimes I don't turn this shit off just because I'm an AI hater or whatever or because I don't know about it. Sometimes I *know* it is not useful to me. So the nags are doubly annoying.

Like, I wanted the pixel painting, BUT THE PUMPKINS???? Perfection.

I don't think a piece of mail has made me so giddy to open in like, idk years. Thanks @jennschiffer.com
Several pieces of art and stickers laying on cardboard shipping material, mainly a large airbrushed jack-o-lantern against a blue sky with spooky ghosts around it, and a pixel drawing of a woman with blue hair and pink lips' the rest of her face is obscured

I used one to make my cursor have a rainbow sparkle because I had this issue of always losing track of it when healing raids lol But that is probably pretty easily adaptable into a standalone addon if it hasnt been already

And like, glad that THEY have assistive tools they like to use. But normalizing them a bit so everyone has equal access to them seems like a good move.

Yeah, they've been banking pretty good will the last two expansions. Let's at least test it first before falling off the deep end. ALSO YEAH. Can't even watch people stream M+/raids without getting over stimulated lol some people have SO MUCH going on their stream.

Ugggghhhhh I love Talanji (and her voice actor)

Ah yeah I always forget about the iframe title

Yeah, same. It was always some weird wonky half-work-around in the past. Seems like much hasn't changed.

So I mostly find myself telling people to find another way and not use it. But, in 2025, is there a good use case for this attribute?

#accessibility #a11y folks, is there any suitable cases for actually using the `title` attribute these days? I've mainly encountered folks using it to try to counter some bad design pattern (like a replacement for alt text, ambiguous icons that they think need a "tooltip" for, etc)

Clicked into this thread because I was hoping to see Shrimp Jesus.

There are also like, a lot of streamer types giving very extreme opinions on this (Blizzard can't do it! They won't have it ready in time! It's going to suck!) without showing any actual use of the in game systems. Like, you haven't even tested them yet?

This all being said all I really use are Lorekeeper to track all the books I collect, All the Things to track which appearances I don't have yet and TomTom for in game coordinates because I just kept using that even after they added map pins lol So I'm good!

And I think they are? Sounds like there will be boss alerts built in? "Players will be able to see a timeline of major critical abilities that are coming up, receive alerts when targeted, and access other necessary information to overcome challenges." news.blizzard.com/en-us/articl...
Midnight: Get up to Speed with User Interface Updates
We’re making improvements to Nameplates, adding Damage Meters to the base UI, integrating boss alerts into our raid design in Midnight, and more.

My take on the #WoW addon changes are: I think it's great granted they supply the API necessary for folks to make the same assistive tools for boss/player abilities. Thinking of folks that made accessibility tools for the deaf community.

lol this is exactly the type of behavior folks can expect when they join, also! Thanks for the demonstration, Trevor!

I previously used Mastodon quite a bit. I know how to follow people from another instance.

Like, I don't know how many times I've seen folks overcomplicate what is really just a list of links and images. The web is (was? 😢) good because links work like links and form elements work like form elements.

Always go for the simpler route. We have lots of tricks in our modern CSS toolbelt that can add the polish and aesthetics without sacrificing our users to fumbling through your UI.
