The language gives it away too:
"Overplaying our hand" = surrender
"Waiting won't help" = accept defeat
"Pragmatic" = whatever donors want
"Not perfect but..." = voting against you
It's not individual weakness. It's institutional training.

Oh that will definitely require at least a full five minutes as we both simultaneously edge forward and then brake over and over. All true Seattleites know there is no greater moral virtue than to yield to someone else when you have the right of way.
