Of the radioactive minerals in the hand-specimen of uranium ore (see post of Jul 21, 2023), brannerite was the most abundant.

Its crystallites form grain-aggregates with crystallites of rutile, exhibiting a variety of textures and compositions. Brannerite is an uranium titanate to which . . ./2

🧪 Thus, autoradiography facilitates the mapping of radioactive minerals at or near the surface of a host rock sample.

🧪 Uraninite, uranothorite and monazite were the other abundant radioactive minerals. The intimate association of pyrite with the radionuclides, interstitial to the quartz pebbles, is noteworthy. Low-intensity radiation bands indicate the subsurface positions of some radionuclides. /...5

🧪 The image that follows is the autoradiograph of the hand-specimen. It was prepared by laying the flat face of the hand-specimen on a sheet of x-ray film for about 72 hours. The white spots and patches in the image were caused by radiation emitted from radioactive minerals, e.g., brannerite. /...4

🧪 The abundant, reflective particles occupying positions around pebble boundaries and filling fractures within pebbles are pyrite; maximum size ~2 mm. /...3

🧪 A sectioned hand-specimen of uranium ore is shown below. The rock type is quartz pebble conglomerate, with smoky and milky varieties of quartz pebbles in the size range of 0.5 to 4 cm. The median size is small, about 1.5 to 2 cm. The pebbles are tightly packed and well sorted. /...2

Am I on the list so that I get a test tube emoji when I post a scientific piece?

To anybody on the Bluesky Team, here is a question.

Why is Bluesky not listed in the apps notification list on my Android phone? Until I checked, I was wondering why I was not receiving notifications of messages/posts the way I do for WhatsApp, Twitter and everything else.

Why don't I get notifications of Bluesky posts outside of Bluesky, as I do with every other platform?

Thank you, @feloniousmonk.bsky.social . You know, I wondered when your moniker would be used. Are you musical in any way?
