I'm sure many among a hypothetical, future left party in the US will be from current Democrat and Progressive circles, in all likelihood the majority of them. Maybe there will be another historic party realignment that keeps the name only.

I'm not convinced any group actually accountable to the people would ever be tolerated to carry the name by party leadership, and I'm more skeptical such people would find value in holding on to the legacy of Chuck fucking Schumer.

Yeah, yeah, I get it..no third parties in America. But we currently don't have a SECOND party in America. I guess people can talk me down from a maximalist position here, but I only hear common sense when I say: whatever comes next, I'm not sure it's called "The Democratic Party."
