Graphic announcing a new issue of the Journal of Jewish Studies. On the left, white text on a grey-blue background reads: “The leading forum in the world for new research in Jewish history, literature, and culture from Biblical times to the present day.” Below are logos for Liverpool University Press and the Oxford Centre for Hebrew & Jewish Studies. On the right, the journal cover is displayed with the text “Journal of Jewish Studies, Vol. LXXVI, No. 2, Autumn 2025.” A navy-blue circle reads “New issue,” and a yellow three pronged symbol is shown in the bottom corner. The background features faint handwritten Hebrew script.

Times change. All you can control is that you have moral integrity anchoring you to truth and goodness. Develop good character. Inner score card, not an outer score card. Not a political score. Not fake internet points. Not the latest academic bandwagon. Build a monument more lasting than bronze.

I'm enjoying the rainbows between the stop-start showers this month where we live in Bath. We explain the story of Noah to Jonathan whenever one appears (although Joseph is still his current fave story). We've had a lot of change recently (new house, new school). Family is an anchor and a blessing.

Greatly enjoying the chapter on coins!

Deeply concerning about biomedical and chemistry research, impacted by numbers, politics, and budgets. These are essential subjects. The UK and US cannot afford to slow down like this. My colleagues in chemistry and organic geochemistry at Bristol are super talented.
‘Deeply concerned’: Are chemistry departments across the US at real risk of closure?
Chemistry chairs warn that they face the same problems afflicting the UK with the Trump administration adding to their woes

I'm not completely convinced either! (Torleif says it was the opinion of the IAA team... anyway I'm sure the full story might be published in some form.)
