That, plus it's so blatant the only reason they want to use AI is to save on labor costs. ie, cut artists out of the project so they don't have to pay them.

When they say 'gatekeeping', they mean that they were told they have to practice to get good, or pay an artist if they won't do the practicing.
They're being handed every single resource they need to practice (aside from probably materials), but actually putting in the work is anathema to them.

I don't even remember her name, or her face. All I remember is that she was horrid at teaching me French, and almost made me hate poetry.

My high school French teacher thought it was a good idea to have her students recite a French poem from heart. So I lost multiple evenings to that, learned nothing about poetry, or the poem, or why it was worth learning. I didn't even remember what poem it was.
