I might believe that if they made clothes in my size: 26. As it is, their largest dresses are “XXL/20”, and they have only 18 of those. Compare to over 1300 in their smallest size.

They don’t care about size diversity. This is mockery, plain and simple.

Ah, thanks for explaining! You are being more clever than me. I was just feeling spiteful and soothing myself with thoughts of strategically inflicted anemia.

I’m looking for a book for someone who enjoyed (and finished) the Inspector Linley mysteries. Does Elizabeth George have another series you’d recommend next?

Oppression being denied by whom? hidden from whom? Dr Sam is talking about oppression while erasing the targets of that oppression from the conversation, which seems like THE cardinal sin of any kind of power discourse. It’s a complicated way to say “I don’t listen to marginalized people.”

I don’t think I’m familiar with that quote.

I’m open to the idea of applying a great many leeches to Republicans. I doubt it will fix them, but it would nourish the leeches.

I taught writing as an adjunct, and there were some students who would write about xtianity no matter what the assignment was. They had been taught by their church that the *only* good use of language was to testify their faith, and literally any other use was sin.

Ah, yes, I’d forgotten they were ever so careful not to malign the poor little t*rfs. (To be clear about my view on t*rfs: They are fascistic bootlickers, Not feminists of any stripe.)

In addition to what @logatex.bsky.social said, an article was recently published that initially had the title “Did women ruin the workplace?” When that got deserved criticism, the paper changed “women” to “feminism.”

I’ve been stalled on that second one. It is *so* hard, and I admire you for doing it.

At least, like potatoes, the worst consequence of sticking what amounts to maxi pads to the soles of your feet is just a raging case of athletes foot.

I remember ads for “detox” pads you’d stick to your feet at night. When you woke up in the morning, you could “see” all the toxins it drew out by the black marks on the pads. It got debunked easily: The pads changed color even when dipped in distilled water. Sweat worked, too, of course.

I read that article, among many others of hers over the years. Your “spoiler” isn’t justified by the text. You’re projecting things onto her writing that aren’t in it.

A very well executed novel on the theme of “Jesuits meet the aliens” is The Sparrow. Note that it has distressing content (graphic violence, body horror, and sexual assault).

Because really when you don't even have that standard, all you've done is tell a group of predators/abusers, "we won't hold you accountable EITHER" when they slide into the tent.

How is THAT gonna fix the problem?
