Hello, it's me, Kali, half of @gemroomgames.bsky.social! You may know me from DUKK BÖRG, Letters to Sandra, 9 Lives to Valhalla, or occasional parenting & art stuff. I'm usually tired!

You can also partner with someone whose design strengths fill your gaps & vice versa, if you get a chance.

Then marry them, if it works out well that way for you.

Role Playing Design is a combo of prompt writing and system design and you don’t need to be good at both.

If your talents lean towards prompt writing you can use other designers game systems for bones.

And if you are more into systems, you can make designs where players prompt themselves.

I really appreciate every time I see something pop up like "oh, your kid makes messes in shared spaces? Yeah it's because they feel SAFE, you make them feel SAFE, it's because you're SUCH A GOOD PARENT"

I had a boss in an underfunded, undersupported program who spent decades SURE that if she just quietly excelled a bit more with less, they'd finally give her the money & support she needed.
It never happened, of course. They just saw that they could make bigger cuts to her program & she'd make it ok

I remember talking with a guy I knew about my then-long dry streak of terrible dates/persistent singleness & he tried sincerely to commiserate: he was only sleeping with 3 women right then, instead of 5-6. So lonely! So alone! Such dry streak!
