From whom? Seems like the easier explanation is that poorer voters didn’t like the economy, and Democrats plugged their ears like you’re still doing.

I’m sure there’s some difference in methodology but what’s remarkable to me is how this compares to the electoral preferences of the 2016 electorate. The whole socially conservative, fiscally liberal quadrant seems to have evaporated.

This data set doesn’t include 2024, but turnout only dropped 2.5% from the high point in 2020. Point is we’ve definitely seen declines in turnout of this size before. The decentralized nature of elections means a ton of hogs would have to keep their mouths shut, which they’re terrible at.
