When matte paintings go hard.
A matte painting of an impossibly intricate labyrinth from the 1990 film Hellbound: Hellraiser 2. The effects were by Cliff Culley from what I can find.

Great game for sure. Recommending Convergence mod if very familiar with base ER. Go full anime

One of the things that brings me the greatest despair in authoritarianism is watching people react to state violence the way they react to domestic violence.

By justifying anything and everything the perpetrators does through blaming a victim for failing to be submissive enough.

Due to the unique way Super Mario Bros. stores its maps, its level designers were at the mercy of the decorative hills and bushes when placing bottomless pits. While the pits can be placed freely, the decorations are non-negotiable and dictate the level design.

Very old (2009, I think) piece which I still kinda like. Likeness is not great, but the style is fun (tho I rarely do any vector stuff) And the yellow stuff in the back is actual acrylic paint I scanned, which I think works nicely with the graphic approach of the main figure.

dude this is a literal real life story: me and and a great pixel artist friend from when I was in Mojang were having a smoke, talking about good shit we've seen recently and we both independently mentioned a top-down piece of urs with a stone structure, we both loved a purple-ish hue shift in there
helmll.bsky.social
Heh, I get it. I'm always happy when I see a new piece, no pressure

That's a heart-warming tale in itself and it will imbue the project with essence as well! Don't give up! Re: art enjoyed for years, we're all peers pixelling next to each other on an infinite canvas my friend, I inspired you then, you inspire me now :)

you're doing really good with your reworks. These are attractive and nostalgic. Wouldn't do the dither/aa tech on the light side of surfaces (top of roof) I'd keep it for the more darkened blends because the tech has this noisy quality that works w/ shadows best. Unless crt filter is also involved
