"An English degree is a rip off" said by the people who are currently ripping everyone off. They don't want you to be literate, to understand the context, the references or the rhetoric they are using to scam you.

A rip off for THEM. If you can read, write and parse meaning, you're harder to fool.

I wrote with the incomparable Jess LaBozetta on a Tech Comm class that we co taught for a while. Unfortunately I've moved on from TCID and she's moved on from UCCS, but I still refer to that lesson plan for other things

when I was doing my MA a friend used to take away my internet cord when I had to get some writing done (York somehow still required ethernet in 2010) and OH MY GOD I WISH THAT WAS STILL POSSIBLE
