Whatever you might hear from fascist billionaires, Mars is extremely dry, extremely cold—and extremely inhospitable.

For the energy, effort, and expense it takes to make Mars habitable for humans we could ensure that Earth is protected, cherished, and able to care for countless generations to come.

A post on #LinkedIn on the salary costs of different cities in #Europe places #Cambridge at an astronomical average, I just don't believe it. They caveat it by saying that #Amazon and #Apple are biasing the numbers, but I just don't believe there is so many employees in Cambs to spike the average.

How come all those breathless "AI is so productive we don't need to hire software engineers" articles come from CEOs and not people in the engineering tree

How come I've never heard "AI made me so productive I don't need a coworker" from an actual software engineer

Sometimes you have to highlight the good things of the day, not only the bad: first working lunch with the new team, an amazing work plan for the next months, new Italian friend in swimming, my daughter top scorer of her team... lots of good things!

My main feelings are like: “where is my reward for all this time and effort?” Agree on the parallelism with a marathon. Right now I’m in the 30kms wall.

Paper finished during the weekend. Third attempt. Near 3000 dataset variants compared. Big effort. Hope this time the paper is published.
