Very excited to see our paper on aging&cognitive skills out in the neuroscience section of Science Advances 🎉
@science.org

We show that usage of skills seems to be the key to maintaining them 💡

Great collaboration with my co authors E.A. Hanushek, F. Witthöft and @woessmann.bsky.social!

🚨 Thrilled that our 🆕 paper
“Age and Cognitive Skills: Use It or Lose It”
just came out in #ScienceAdvances @science.org

💡 Longitudinal evidence: age pattern of literacy+numeracy not as bleak as cross-section suggests + strongly differs by skill usage

[PA system stutters alive] attention moderates. this is your final warning. anti-trans backlash is in fact backlash against gender nonconformity in general, including homosexuality, and it seeks to roll back all related forms of progress. this is your final warning, places please

Republican support for same-sex marriage down 31pts, from 55% to 24%, in four years according to new poll from YouGov.

Yikes.

I don't know if it'd be more merit based in absolute terms, but it would certainly be less "need to know"-network based, and for fairness at least I think that'd be desirable.

I also acknowledge that network-based growth of groups has benefits (makes personal interactions more organic).
hesss.org
Oh yeah. Dev econ networks are a mystery to me.
hesss.org
I see. So you first need a network to tell you this and then someone to write a letter. Not saying the work of iza isnt great, just thinking there has to be a better way to run these things than these networks.
hesss.org
Sorry to ask, but was IZA affiliation only merit-based or mostly network-based?

I'm wondering: If part of Berlin had to repeat the last election because too many people weren't able to cast their votes (due to admin chaos), what's going to happen if many of the postal votes are not going to arrive on time.
