Making noise, having adventures, striving to be kind, and teaching kids to do the same. She/her. Chicago.
I love how many people are answering this with Snakes on A Plane stories! Never need to see that movie again, but having a pre-show party and seeing it in a theater with a bunch of nerds was so much fun.

And Plan 9 From Outer Space just isn't the same without RHPS-style callbacks and paper plates flying thru the air.

I used to go to B-Fest at Northwestern U every year, so the rest of my memorable moments involve terrible movies. Like a whole theater losing our collective will to live during a late-night showing of Can Heironymus Merkin Ever Forget Mercy Humppe and Find True Happiness?

Wet Hot American Summer in a theater full of fellow fans who knew every line by heart and cheered for every scene.

Amélie on my own, on a beautiful winter's night, just starting to emerge from a months-long depressive episode.

Yay! Try either Bellweather Rhapsody or Tuesday Mooney Talks To Ghosts.

My fifth-grade teacher hooked our entire class on Bellairs, and I still go back to some of them. (And by the way, if you're an adult longing for something Bellairsian, treat yourself to some Kate Racculia!)

EVERYBODY is mean in Harriet. But that felt 100% accurate to me as a kid.

L'Engle, Bellairs, and Harriet the Spy will be musts in a year or two, but be prepared to have some chats to counteract Harriet's unfortunate fatphobia.

My quirkier faves at that age (also a strong reader, also full of big feelings) included the aforementioned Mixed-Up Files, Daphne's Book (Hahn), and Invisible Lissa (Honeycutt).
