Just so we all understand, the point to this is to privatize weather forecasting. You'll have to pay for weather forecasts. Private companies like starlink will own the weather satellites. There will be no long-term research on improving forecasts
This reckless decision will cost lives.

NWS is a lifeline for families from hurricanes & severe storms. It provides crucial local forecasts we use every day. Slashing its workforce cripples its ability to protect communities.

My neighbors deserve better—this is an outright attack on public safety.
Hundreds of weather forecasters fired in latest wave of DOGE cuts
Federal workers who were not let go said the afternoon layoffs included meteorologists who do crucial local forecasts in National Weather Service offices across the U.S.

1/ The nascent Tesla boycott movement got me thinking back to the 80s anti-apartheid movement. How it took off and literally changed the world.

Ted Cruz said he’d found $2 billion in “woke” science grants, but his team used keyword searches that flagged things out of context, like a grant to develop a device to treat severe bleeding that mentioned “victims” and “trauma.”

We are watching a criminal RICO enterprise in real time.
⚠️ DOGE staffer Edward Coristine was fired for leaking info from a data-security firm. He later bragged he retained access to the firm’s system.

He was also on law enforcement radar for communicating in an online chat room with an alleged hacker under investigation.

Seems like this email could severely backfire, in that it demonstrates the utter toothlessness of DOGE’s absurd directives. The question that kills DOGE has always been “Wait, are you the boss of me? Says what law?” and now Elon is forcing a lot of people to ask it.
NEW — The National Treasury Employees Union Chapter 282 just emailed its ~8,000 employee members strongly advising them NOT to reply to the “What did you do last week?” email from OPM/Musk.

Good. It's a trap. Trump's desire is for him to "win" and Ukraine to "lose." He cannot be trusted, and he is not negotiating in good faith.
❗️ Ukraine rejects the U.S. demand for a $500 billion fund, calling it unjustified, as actual aid amounts to only $90 billion, Bloomberg reports. Negotiations are delayed due to disputed terms that Zelensky refuses to approve.

Ukraine has pushed back against US demands for a $500 billion fund that would be part of a deal to give Washington a cut of the country’s mineral wealth, a Ukrainian official familiar with talks said.
