I have a small collection of Superbit DVDs and I’ve always loved this bit on the back of them. That asterisk after the bit about doubling the bitrate is clearly doing some heavy lifting.

Hit up an estate sale over the weekend and found two Voodoo 3 2000s for $10 each. PCI but whatever. Both seem to work fine.

Picked up a Gateway 2000 G6-400 today!
Optical drives didn’t work, so I replaced the one that hides behind the faceplate with a functioning one and put in an IDE to SD card adapter for the primary drive, then got Windows 98 up and running. Been a fun learning experience.

Upgraded the CPU and GPU in the 486 to a DX2-66 and VLB card respectively. Now all I need is a sound card. (I wish the dude I bought one from worked ship it.)

Finally got the old 486 working last night and it runs DOOM way better than I expected, and now I have a VLB graphics card and a 486 DX2-66 CPU arriving next week.
I might be able to maintain 35fps in empty rooms soon!

It’s got a 486DX-33, 12MB of RAM, a 1MB Speedstar 24X video card, a sound card, a modem and some other things. Needs a new CMOS battery and HDD, and I’d like to upgrade to a 486DX4-100, add more RAM, and try to get Windows 95 running on it.

I managed to snag a Sony KV-32FS120 TV last weekend, and then a couple hours later, a pair of Sony SAVA-15 speakers from a completely different seller. Kinda feel like the dog that caught the car now 🤣

I found a pair of Sony SA-VA 7 speakers like the ones from this ad to pair with my little 13” PVM. They’re made for 20” sets, but whatever. The Lords of Thunder soundtrack sounds good on ‘em and that’s all that matters.

I redid my gaming setup to make streaming easier. A fun side effect is all of the consoles connected to my CRT can now be displayed on any screen 😍
