Men have had 10,000 years to lead humanity, and that interminable epoch led to this equally interminable concert.

I think we—I mean men—are officially done.

This concert was our grand finale.

Women—and only women—should lead the world for the next 10,000 years. Let’s see where that gets humanity.

Milei capers around on stage whilst the country falls to pieces. This is a perfect encapsulation of his role, a narcisistic fool who clowns around and holds peoples attention whilst the Argentine ruling class reduces the country back to the level of neo-colonial dependency last seen prior to 1914.

Fascinating. Thanks for the link

Tories are living in alternative realities. Jenrick is just a racist nutjob, but even bright young thing Katie Lam is pining for the good old asylum days when it was beautiful ballerinas defecting from Soviet Union

Lot of depressing things these days, but the truly most depressing of all is that even Boris Johnson knew the UK had bigger problems, as he explained in *2013* (soon forgotten of course)
Photomontage of extracts from articles in The Telegraph newspaper written by Boris Johnson in 2013 concerning the pros and cons of the Uk leaving the EU. Sources:

Agree. This figure illustrates the real world of people seeking asylum, which the stupid woman dismisses with a silly quip about ballerinas defecting from Soviet Union (sic). She should be ashamed but like so many Tories she lives in another world...
Number of grants of asylum or other forms of humanitarian protection, by refugees' country of origin, in each year since 1989. The height of each 'stream' represents the number of grants of asylum to that nationality in a given year.

Ha ha, well spotted. It's actually Claude Béglé as enlarged photo indicates

Interesting. Back in 2016 Theresa May got a lot of criticism for saying UK must leave #ECHR. I particularly liked remarks from Labour's former Lord Chancellor and Shadow Justice Secretary...

I checked a claim and it's rubbish too

Randomly checking a benefit (72 soft power) I see that your only evidence is from Brand Finance. But their index only started in 2020, correct? Article says UK has fallen behind China "reflecting a period of stagnation in its nation brand perceptions"

Some lovely thoughts and reflections about what it means to be human today - "an experience of living that’s jarring, thrilling, and worrying (...) and celebrating that many of our most banal daily experiences are unique, impossible for all humans who came before us"

I wrote about all the lived experiences and strange structures of modern society — many of which we take for granted — that were literally impossible for all previous generations of Homo sapiens. www.forkingpaths.co/p/we-are-dif...
We are different from all other humans in history
Countless experiences that have become routine for us are unprecedented in the history of our species. Here's why that matters.

Who counts as a "foreigner"? It's a vexed question, endlessly discussed. Following the Tory conference in 1993, the noble Lords, Viscounts and Baronesses had a lovely exchange on the subject...

Leaving aside the blue passport nonsense, back in 2021 James Dyson was asked about Brexit benefits and he could only think of one (from his multi-billionaire perspective) - that it gave UK an "independence of spirit" which sums up the delusional bullshit

This video of Chicagoans intervening to save a man from being abducted off the streets by ICE is making the rounds on Instagram.

Dr. Jane Goodall filmed an interview with Netflix in March 2025 that she understood would only be released after her death.

And the index starting in 2020? No need to answer, I already know it - I checked

Interesting to revisit the Urgent Question debate in Parliament in April 2016 prompted by Theresa May's stated intention (day before) to leave the ECHR. Basically, the arguments for and against are all being replayed...

Interesting but (respectfully) there is repetition and video could be shorter. Also, there are contradictions:
- Russia is stuck in failure but Ukraine is facing existential threat and needs help
- Russia is very resilient but economy is collapsing
- Russia will definitely lose but no-one knows when

Might have to repeat this a few times in today's amnesiac times... none of this is new. Synagogues had security in the 1980s. UK jews were attacked even after the Second World War. Extremists will always find a reason to hate, and all stats suggest there are more such people now.

Indeed. The Environment Act 2021 has its faults (weak on meaningfully reducing sewage discharges) but now it's as of it doesn't even exist!

Yep, “take back control” was a very effective rallying cry. Remain never matched it or even understood that it needed something similar. FWIW I thought of “get real, keep the deal” but just history now...
