Also lots of lovely colonies of Glistening Inkcaps (Coprinellus micaceus) and another new one for me - some kind of hypoxylon (woodwart) which was amazing to see!
A huge group of light brown inkcaps that have a tan colour at the top that fades to a lighter beige and then a sudden dark inky brown on the rims. They have ridges on them that catch the light, and are on a rotting stump surrounded by nettles and leaf litter. Knobbly black mushrooms almost like raisins that blend into one another, on dead beech wood

So. A little story. This ginger cat has been in our back garden since we moved here 3 months ago. He has been sleeping outside in the hedge. We tried not to feed him in case he was someone's...

We failed after a month because it's getting cold and he's on the skinny side...
