The UK's first High Speed line, opened in 1983 from Temple Hirst to Colton.
I'm emigrating then.

Both parties are a danger to national security, at the most dangerous time geopolitically sine WW2.

Time for Greens to vote tactically. If Greens don’t vote for the 🌹 candidate. They will have elected a Deform UK stooge. The same guy who claimed over 50% of social housing in London went to people who weren’t British. Which was utter bollocks.

He now paints it in that context but held the position before that. Remember he is also in favour of unilateral nuclear disarmament.

If it wasn't for his dangerous positions on defence I might vote Green but not with these views.

Saying we should leave NATO is not something a “patriotic serious” leader would come out with.

Absolutely not.

To miss quote Sir Humphrey:

"Well, I wouldn't call Trumps actions 'tactics', Minister. That would be to mistake competency for ineptitude".

And yet the US closed over a dozen US military bases on Greenland in that same period.

Strange, no?

To be fair that also makes it easier for the UK to keep an eye on what they're up to....

*seems something similar to my 7 year old laptop. I'm sure the spec is better in ways I don't understand 🤣
January 17, 2026 at 9:43 PM
Yeah I was thinking of heading down that road, but I want to buy one as European as possible.

The spec is about the same as my 7 year old laptop (which still does everything I need, just has the occasional wobble) so as you say as Linux isn't so demanding I'm probably about right by my best guess!

Ah good. It's HP, and despite owning it for 6 years I'm yet to pay for a print cartridge (instant ink included) so much as I wouldn't buy it again, I'll keep milking them for every page!

I was thinking about getting one of these:

StarBook 14-inch
The StarBook Mk VI features Intel's 12th Generation and AMD Ryzen 7 processors. Available with a host of options, including open-source coreboot firmware.

Ah yes the part 2 question! Linux Mint seems to be quite highly rated, a good starting point for a beginner?
