this is annoying enough i'll just go back to the broken key. sigh
December 5, 2025 at 4:19 PM
oh, the key is very slightly taller than the surrounding keys and doesn't feel quite the same to type on. that's unfortunate. maybe in this particular case they are in fact selling a replica and not a key pulled from a broken laptop… maybe we should've just gone to aliexpress…

today an unassuming envelope from poland arrived in our mailbox. it contained a single keycap — and to our surprise, also the entire butterfly mechanism. we don't know how to replace the latter so we just swapped the keycap for now. works great. thank you Klawiszedolaptopa.pl

i mean leo fender didn't know what tremolo meant so it's in keeping with tradition

similarly you can actually get solid-state electronic modules as drop-in replacements for vacuum tubes, though i assume it will be a cold day in hell before guitar people use those
December 3, 2025 at 10:31 PM
fluorescent lights already went through a technology transition when the starter changed from a glass tube with ionised gas to some kind of solid-state electronic module
December 3, 2025 at 10:26 PM
i just think it's very cool that a lighting fixture designed for fluorescent can accept LED tubes, a newer and radically different lighting technology, because if there is a market for standardised user-serviceable parts, someone will find a way to engineer a drop-in replacement

actually I don't like that included sticker because it implies the ballast has been modified to bypass the glimtändare, but it hasn't (is that another way to install it?), so I'll probably remove it lest some future person actually take it at face value

all three endings are the true ending
December 2, 2025 at 4:10 AM
maybe Otonashi Ayana is the girl who is the world itself
December 2, 2025 at 3:17 AM
I guess we may as well read the third ending while we're at it…

incredible difference in mood between the “Hill of Sunflowers” and “Wonderful Everyday” endings

Kimura glamour shot…
December 2, 2025 at 1:51 AM
am I just imagining it or does Tomosane sound more like Takuji in this ending…
December 2, 2025 at 1:01 AM
oh, the ending where Tomosane has to stop hating his mother is the ending where Yuki isn't Hasaki's “mother”, that does actually make sense
