This delay gives a more active resister time to collect themselves so they can question the authority, engage/distract in a different way, get their camera out, etc. and time for anyone who wants to leave the area to do so.

You can do similar passive resistance basically anywhere it would give time for someone else to leave the area. Are you in the train station? Say you're in a hurry, volunteer to go first, then drop your purse so everything falls out and make them wait while you pick it all up and look for your ID.

When I'm done I can drive a mile or two up the road, circle around and drive back through again.

Basically channel any sports star you've ever seen push the limits of the delaying play with a clock running. Cooperate excessively. Take up time. Delay everyone else. Eat up agents' time.

All the while I can make idle, friendly conversation with the CBP officers. Where they are from, how did they get into this line of work, does it pay well, where are they staying? Are they finding a lot of people? Report useful information to my response network.

Fumble for my wallet, and then remember my ID is in my backpack.

Example: I have to pass through a CBP checkpoint. I can:
Text my Signal group the location so others can join me and get the word out to vulnerable folx to avoid the area.
Turn my car off and remove my keys from the ignition for the duration of the stop. Accidentally drop my keys.

I'm seeing a lot out there about active resistance to immigration activity/fascism. There are also passive forms of resistance for people who have citizenship and other privileges but aren't comfortable actively challenging authority. What does this look like? It can look like malicious cooperation.
