imo it created an instant power vacuum and they all wanted to take that newly opened up territory. I think a lack of overhead party discipline in terms of picking a clear winner out of the rest of them is causing this jockeying to get drawn out. I hope it gets really ugly!

Anti-authoritarianism does kind of fundamentally clash with the idea that there's only one way of doing something artistically.

I think on a cynical level it's really just politics as performance, and that they wanna have the spectacle/show going on at all hours, and drive the clicks where they'll get paid to blog. If the online fights aren't happening then that's a threat to their paycheques.

These types of guys will say and do anything so long as they keep getting paid to write blog posts. Understandable I guess.

This is how all the people saying this is illegal look. Don't forget they're still spending your tax money to do this, and are spending your tax money to legally defend their actions. The law will not save you here, only collective action and political will.

Yeah my impression for all PI stuff is that you need it bc:
-You're about to divorce them and need evidence for legal reasons.
-You can't leave the relationship/marriage for some reason and need the evidence for non-legal reasons.
Either way the "relationship" as it was, is dead.

Yeah I've admittedly never been outside of an airport east of Manitoba, but that's my read on it over here. I am a small-r republican though (1837-1838 Lest We Forget).

My rando opinion from out West is that I usually see federal Liberals be in favour of the monarchy *slightly* more often than the rightists tbh. People mostly don't give a shit either way.

This does not stop bad ideas from happening, but it's important to underline that the Seattle area is about as progressive as BC, yeah.

It might seem unrelated but an example of how western alienation grows is through non-O&G is also through things like the canola tariffs rn. Ottawa decided protecting Ontario automakers is more important than Western canola growers' financial positions.

People are gonna believe all sorts of things (many of them contradictory!), but there's people that think they'll get rich, some that want more leverage in Canada, people who wanna be American, people who just yap, etc. It's a sore spot that is not wholly unwarranted by our peculiar Confederation.

I risk regressing back into being a smartass by saying this, but I genuinely believe parts of our Confederation are to blame for this western drama. The western provinces were intentionally split to keep them small compared to Lower/Upper Canada, and this is an unintended consequence of that imo.

The hostile Yanks will float a bunch of stuff and feelers out regarding social security transfers, infrastructure, military protection, etc. and the independent people will mysteriously transform into 51st state advocates.
