Edward VI was crowned in Westminster Abbey #onthisday in 1547.

The son of Henry VIII and Jane Seymour, he succeeded his father when he was 9 years old.

Edward died aged just 15, probably from tuberculosis, and is buried in the Abbey's Lady Chapel.

Trévières, France. (Normandy) In 1944 a shell blew off the statues face. The town never restored it so they would never forget. This town was a treat whilst visiting earlier this year for the D-Day anniversary. #dday #normandy #france #history #ww2

This Passageway on St Mary at Hill has a skull and crossbones in the pediment. Why? Because it was the entrance to the graveyard of neighbouring St. Mary at Hill Church. The graveyard was closed to new entrants in 1846 - by that time the cities churches were overflowing with bodies #history #london

Ever wondered why these are a bit different? White bollards in London date back to the 19th century, symbolising that you are in the The City of London. They mark pedestrian zones and reflect the city's commitment to preserving its historic charm. Now you know. #london #history

St Dunstan in the East. Located halfway between London Bridge and the Tower of London, this church has seen it all. Built just after 1100 it was damaged during the Great Fire in 1666, renovated with help from Christopher Wren but the Blitz was the final shot in 1941. #history #london #church #hsq

This photo may look unremarkable, but this railing is made from World War II stretchers. 600,000 of these were manufactured during the Air Raids (Blitz) and used by ARP officers to carry wounded civilians. Sometimes what looks mundane is anything but.. #london #history #ww2 #britishhistory

In Thames Street, London you will find iron bars in the curb.

These were originally “wheel stops” to prevent carriages rolling backwards down the hill. #history #london

William Marshall. “The Greatest Knight.” This dude was the medieval version of a superhero. He even got knighted by Eleanor of Aquitaine, and trust me, she didn't just knight anyone. Marshall’s resume? Served 4 Kings, Templar, Earl, 500 battles and saved a Prince. #london #templar #history
