That is very helpful. My next question - if I go through and choose the printings I want (which I do care about), will it actually preserve that in the final version of the order?

My setting has a zodiac (12 months, just like the real world), and mages' familiars will always take on the shape of their star sign. Some variation is possible but they'll stay in the same general range.
Some are actually animals...

The moon in my setting represents both the domain of the death god, and his metaphorical body. It's kinda like the bread=flesh of Christ thing. Don't worry about it.
The SECOND moon didn't appear in the sky until he took a mortal wife....

Prior to the empire, few salamanders from ANY of their kingdoms (four, all scattered across many volcanic islands) routinely interacted peacefully with other races. Other people were essentially regarded as either dangerous invaders or food. Or both.

Salamanders are given some special legal privileges in the empire, since it could not have formed without their participation in a civil war. They're exempt from conscription and women are allowed in roles that human women are often excluded from.

Salamanders are tough as nails, so they fight a lot. And I mean a LOT. Brawls are common and viewed as a healthy way to communicate. Your friend say something irritating? Shove. Someone say something kinda rude? Give em a small bite.

Salamanders are able to produce fire from a special lobe in their lungs. They also have access to elemental magic that humans do not, and have ultra-dense bones and metabolize protein well. They're far stronger and tougher than they look.

My salamanders are obligate carnivores. They can eat plant material for the bulk of their diet, but without enough meat they fall to what they refer to as the "second hunger". They will become weak, gradually go blind, and eventually experience seizures and death.

My setting is fairly low fantasy in terms of other races/species. There are four, all of which are more like demi-humans.
The most prominent are salamanders. They're not actually amphibian-like; they're largely human in appearance, but I've named my elemental races...

Provinces are ruled by lords, but their power is much reduced since the empire was founded. The emperor stripped a lot of their power, though they still have far too much.
Merchant cities sometimes are granted their own degrees of autonomy, and smaller towns....

The MS takes place largely in a city called Trenar. It's the imposing seat of an autocratic theocracy, and it's designed to project grandeur. It's burned down roughly 25 years before the start of the story, but enjoyed an unprecedented rebuilding.

I have lots of options for solid snippets, but instead of cherrypicking a favorite I'm going to pick one from the section of the WIP I am presently working on. Rough draft! #amwriting #amwritingfantasy #writingcommunity
