When people talk about what's uncomfortable about writing autobiographical fiction, they usually talk about airing secrets--sharing true stuff that might be unflattering. But I feel like what's actually uncomfortable is that you take an ok person/situation and spice it up with made-up bad stuff

It bothers me that most illustrations of narwhals show them having a horn on their head like a unicorn, when the truth--that it's actually a giant tooth--is so delightfully weird
