Like recently I met someone who seems really nice and interesting, and my fiction-writer brain immediately went "you know what would make an interesting story? If I took some characteristics of this person but gave them a sinister edge and gave the narrator a weird conflict with them."

Oh wow, that sounds intense! I don't know what I would do in that situation!
