The article is a blatant appeal to envy, and fails to point out that *governments* are the main cause of inequality. In a stateless society, e.g. anarcho-capitalism, there would be *much* less inequality than in our statist world. Reich, a proponent of big larcenous government, doesn't mention this.

Or he was living in a society that was hung up about prostitution, and he didn’t see that as a viable alternative. But I think we basically agree - though I am addressing it at a macro level, and you are concentrating on this particular case.
