Tested out this old Nintendo 64 ROM with the Analogue 3D and while it doesn’t recognize the game title, the ROM does play. Nintendo used to overcharge developers for these so they were often reused. This one has an Earthworm Jim 3D label, but Battle for Naboo is actually on the ROM.

Playing Sektori with the wife, passing the controller back and forth trying to see who can get farther old school style.

See, he knows about Bakeru and has good taste.
I can second this. It's great.

I still know so few people who’ve played this game and a whole bunch of you seem like the type who’d like this kind of thing. Seriously, so so fun. Give it a chance if you haven’t.

Ghost Of Yotei is great. I never did get around to playing Tsushima, so the “safe sequel” thing isn’t having an effect on me. But I can say I’ve been bored with the open-world formula for years now outside a few exceptions. This one’s had my full attention since the beginning, though.

Really enjoyed playing through Road Trip mode in Kirby Air Riders. Think I’m gonna do that again in NG+, chip away at the checklist, and try to get the true ending.

A few that quickly come to mind: Pipistrello And The Cursed Yoyo, Absolum, Hell Is Us
Game that came out this year that you think deserves more attention?

Crazy to think of the developments in gaming in the 20 years before the 360 to the developments in gaming in the 20 years after. Sort of a revolution era and then a refinement era. Still bounds of creativity today but in such different ways.
Retro Gamer 279 celebrates 20 years of the Xbox 360! The magazine also includes a 2026 Mario calendar.

Also inside: Stormbringer, Pipe Mania, Mega Man X, Real Bout Fatal Fury 2, Brian Shea, Terminator games and much more.

Grab it in shops or buy it online: www.magazinesdirect.com/uk/retro-gam...

I think I’m playing too many games at once right now. Not a normal thing for me but I’ve been doing it more and more lately. And my dumbass is still eyeballing a few indie games. 🙄🤣😗

I’ve also been playing a game called Chronicles Of The Wolf on Switch, which is basically a tribute to Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night. It’s intentionally archaic, doesn’t hold your hand, and has controls that are a bit unresponsive, but it’s got enough going for it that I’m in for the long haul.

There it is. Really sucks. I think I heard Big The Cat and thought it was Patrick. Haha.

Also, this probably isn’t apparent based on my recent posts but I don’t really care for the SpongeBob brand or humor at all. I’ve enjoyed a couple of the movies but never got into the show(s). I just like 3D platformers and kart racers. 🤷‍♂️

Couple quick notes on SpongeBob DLC in Sonic Racing CrossWorlds.

The new course is better than the Minecraft course – better flow.

Even though I’m playing as him, SpongeBob hasn’t uttered a word. It feels super off. Guessing it’s a bug because pretty sure I heard Patrick.

That’s all. Back to it.

Might have to find someplace to publish my EOTY list this year. I’ve gotten into so much and have been diligent about tracking it. Plus I’ve played and watched a lot that’s went overlooked, and I like to highlight gems people may have missed. Not sure I have access to my dot com anymore, though.

There are positives and negatives, but I can’t help but feel this new SpongeBob game is maybe a small step back from the previous entry. This team feels torn between linear level design and open areas/worlds. Pick one and stick with it (either could work), and I think it’ll be for the better.

I think I’ve finished every show I’ve watched this year… other than Twisted Metal S2. I thought it was terrible and tried to finish it out but haven’t gone back since the penultimate episode. I can’t believe it’s been renewed.

Where them Morsels reviews at? Honestly, with or without reviews I’d just buy the game right now if it were live. It looks to be bringing the kind of gross and weird that I’m all about.

With Bat-Fam finished, City The Animation is up next.

Forgot to mention, I’m hooked enough on Ball x Pit that I’m doing a few rounds between other games. I’m not losing hours at a time to it, but I do want to keep unlocking characters, balls, and stages and maybe see it through.

I’m shit at organizing and managing my town, though. It’s a mess.
The wife talked me into downloading Ball x Pit last night because she really likes it, but it’s not clicking with me at all yet. Did it take any of you a while to get hooked on it or is was it more immediate? I wonder if there’s a layer I’ve yet to peel back yet.

Wrapped up the first season of Bat-Fam on Prime Video. It’s a cozy, silly, mostly low-stakes family-friendly Batman series that’s very easy to recommend to those of you who want something to watch with your kids who aren’t quite ready for the typically darker, more mature world of Batman/DC.

I’m 81% map completion in Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment and it’s just become crystal clear that I’m gonna have to grind my ass off to see this one to 100% completion or beat all battles. Some enemy attacks are now taking 1/3 health even when my fighter is a couple levels higher than them.

Despite an attempt to avoid 3D platformers until SpongeBob, I’ve kept playing Spyro 2. Man, this game looks so impressive. Lush, colorful, magical environments, cartoony and well-animated NPCs and enemies bursting with personality, and lighting that highlights these attributes and brings it to life.

Back in middle school I got invited to spend the night at this kid’s house and I wasn’t interested but my parents talked me into it. His mom rented us Genesis games and one game had a water level early on, and the kid got SUPER excited and said “I love water levels!” I never talked to him again.

Gotta figure whether I want SpongeBob on Switch or PS5. Switch makes most sense for the loose Joy-Con option, but I had a few bizarre visual issues with the Switch demo that I didn’t have when I played it on PS5.

Anyone know when the review embargo is lifting on this one?

I’m sick. The wife is sick. She’s on the couch sleeping it off, but I can’t support my body easily in bed beyond routine sleep hours, so I’m in the office chair zoning out trying to find something to do that will hold my attention and distract me. I can say this: it’s not the second Avatar movie.
