Maestro’s Tan Dun and Leon Botstein with the Bard Conservatory performing Choral Concerto: Nine, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9.

It was a beautiful performance. The mix of eastern and western philosophies, mysticism, and humanist traditions.

Good ep on the reckless use of the unsigned shadow docket.

While an astute political tool, it represents a strategic fumble.

It not only diminishes the standing of the highest court but also invites suspicions of partisanship in a polarized age, eroding the rule of law through its capricious use.

The latest issue of Foreign Affairs has some of Nye’s posthumously published work.

And it is a provocative piece that talks about the decline of U.S. hegemony may “not be a mere dip but a plunge” due to Trump’s actions.

WSJ’s offense on MAGA, given market downturns, by pillorying it for communist inspirations?

Gramsci, it’s been a while since I’ve heard that name. Given that he was part of the neo-Marxist wave that talked about cultural hegemony and institutions, I can see where they make the link.

Thanks! It’s beautiful.

Although, finding undervalued puts have brought gains >100%.

It’s practically a patriotic action to earn funds from this.

Flip side of passive index investing (from Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel).

The incredible bull run of U.S. equities & indices are predicated upon a U.S. hegemonic paradigm, (relative) championing of the liberal international order, & the world’s reserve currency.

Rebalance your portfolio.

Only a 2% and 3% gain from 2020 to 2023.

“They say that a statesman is a politician who has been dead for 15 years.”

I really appreciate this West Wing. In my opinion, the eccentric Amb. Marbury perfectly captured the security dilemma and the systemic destabilizing force of any nuclear missile shield program.

+ The wasteful spending.

Anyone looking into Ellison-controlling Skydance Media’s regulatory issues (apart from most shareholders upset with offered price) for Paramount merger — Tencent’s minority stake in Skydance Media & Congress concerns re: foreign company control of media.

Remarkable man.The spiritual purity of Carter.

If we Americans had given him a second term, perhaps he could have help brokered an enduring peace.

Jake Adelstein, author of Tokyo Vice, interviews Rahm Emmanuel, the outgoing U.S. ambassador to Tokyo, on his yakuza vibes (missing right middle finger & scars).

Emmanuel’s tale of woe — the meat-cutting machine as a teenager working at Arby’s, neglecting proper wound care, and developing sepsis.

Wow.

When you put all of those rather odd words together — it forms a helluva plot.

Someone needs to make a movie of it.

I’m starting to think biotech wouldn’t be a bad option.

But I think that’s just the money talking.

It is rather disappointing to see promising gene therapeutics gone unused because of its exorbitant pricing even if that ends up being better for the shareholder.

There has to be a better model.

How does one approach a Japanese shrine for a post-hoc photo property release?

Took this at the Mitama Matsuri 2017. Decided on a whim to submit to Gettys & Adobe stock. They liked it and want a signed release form. I’ve sat on it for a few years now…

Advice?
