We’re sad to see the closure of Shalom House, which leaves a gap in palliative care provision for the people of Pembrokeshire.

If we do not see sustainable funding for hospices soon, this pattern will repeat across the UK, leaving dying people without essential services.

The Assisted Dying Bill was debated in the House of Lords on Friday.

As Lord Simon Stevens highlights here, with assisted dying on the horizon, it's essential that everyone who needs palliative care can access it, and well-funded hospices are a vital safeguard in making sure no one is left behind.
