thankfully the only reason i brought up "madeline" was to mention the ridiculous robes i had to wear when i was part of the australian youth choir as a kid. still remember when a friend saw me dressed up for a concert for the first time and she immediately said, "who have you come as, madeline?"

don't know the specifics of this film, but sometimes when international distribution is split up by region a major market could contractually require priority. so a film can release domestically, but if the us distributor sets a much later date then other int. markets can't release until after that.
