rules of thumb:
1. patience. if we’re in a situation where we feel a need to hurry, we’re in danger of a rash S1 choice
2. curiosity. the more we can pry open the assumptions on which our decision is being made, the less power S1 has
3. discussion. open communication between buyer and agent is key

it shouldn’t be such an emotional choice, but it often is. and this leads to poor decisions.

to slow the automatic system (S1) down and bring more reflection into the process is the trick. but it’s surprisingly hard, especially once the buyer gets emotionally attached to a decision.
